Further Character Analysis (2)

The female teenage character is going to be portrayed as a bright girl, who does well at school, but is derailed as she gets more involved with her new boyfriend. When thinking about this character we had influences from the character of Chlo Grainger in Waterloo Road.

Further Character Analysis

The male teenage character is going to be portrayed as a stereotypical badboy character, who hides away his emotions. When thinking about this character, we had influences from characters such as Cook from the E4 drama Skins, and also Bolton Smilie from Waterloo Road.

The male character in our film opening, has traits of these characters. They both retain bad boy images, but are actually not as hard as they make out to be. Cook from Skins is very influential to us, because his whole manner, and fashion sense, is the way we envisioned our character to be.

Linking Our Film Opening to Kidulthood

Before filming, we watched Kidulthood, by watching this film it give us a different outlook on how to flm our opening. As this film is based on a group of teenagers from West London, and our film opening is based on two teenagers who run away from home, we could make some links between the two. We could definitely use this film as a huge influence. Two of the teenagers from Kidulthood, "Trife" and Alisa, are facing relationship problems, because she is pregnant. They are stereotyped teenagers, and so are the teenagers in our film opening.

In the picture above, it shows "Trife" and Alisa, at the time of this screenshot they are both reaching break point, and can't handle what their going through. The teenagers in our film opening also face the problem of being homeless, and cannot deal with it.

Kidulthood is also a major influence for us, because it contains more urban music, which is the sort of music that we are using.

NEARLY READY TO FILM

Just a small update for you :)
All that's left to do is our storyboard now, and then our planning is finished, and we're ready to film the product :)

Our Preliminary Task

For the preliminary task, we had to produce a short video demonstrating that we are able to show someone simply opening a door, walking into a room, and sitting down having a conversation with someone. I found the filming part of the task, managable to cope with. But the editing was more of a challenge, as i wasn't very familiar with how to do it, and neither was Katie. But none the less, we had a good try, and managed to do it. Although it took a fair bit longer than the filming itself.

I am pleased with the outcome of the preliminary task, the editing isn't brilliant on it, and there are a few jumpy moments in it, but it was still a good effort for our first attempt.

Further Developed Ideas For The Plot

I thought of the idea of old home videos of both teenagers being played at the beginning of the film when they were little kids. And then flicking to the scene of them sleeping rough. And then making transitions between the home videos, and the present shots of the teenagers. I thought this would be a good idea, as it shows the difference between them as innocent children and then young runaways.

Possible Soundtracks For The Opening

Sweet Disposition seems like a good soundtrack to have played at the beginning of the film because, it helps to set the mood of the film. As it starts of slow, then speeds up, which compliments what's happening in the film, as the teenagers are first shown sleeping rough then running away.

LOCATION HUNTING!! (2)

This location will be used as the old derilict building that the teenagers are running from.

LOCATION HUNTING!!

I've found one of the locations for our film to place in, our ideas of locations were, an old derilict building, a deserted park/forest area, and a dual carriageway.

This will be used as a deserted forested area.

Similar Film Products (1)

I've picked Romeo & Juliet as a similar film product, because it portrays a similar plot to my film. As Romeo and Juliet have a forbidden love, like the two teenage lovers in my film opening.

Opening Of A Fiction Film

For this assignment, I have formed a group with Katie Sheridan. We decided to go with the idea of dramatic romance genre. We came up with the idea of a film called Runaway Love. The plot of the film is that, two teenage lovers run away from home, because neither their family or friends can accept that they're in love. And the opening of the film shows them running to different locations trying to find somewhere to stay. The next thing for us to do is go location hunting, and find 3 similar film products.
